This post is for Windows operating systems for PC users who are advanced users.

If you are using  Microsoft onenote 2016,  then few things you need to remember,  and actually execute them before starting to use onenote.

change default path of temporary folder and backup folder from options menu

don’t allow Windows 10 user account of Microsoft or Hotmail,  to access your office installation login.  That means you should disconnect your Hotmail ID from office onenote cloud.  this is required only in case where you don’t have a huge size cloud account with Microsoft,  or you are going to use onenote for educational purposes and you need to paste so many images to extract text from them.  

In this case if you are logged in then it will sync with your Microsoft cloud,  and consume a lot of cloud storage space.  you may not required them in future to sync in every device,  so if you forget this thing then you may end up consuming so much data and if you forget to change default path of temporary and backup folders,  this data will also consume your C drive space in Windows.

 

See, in this example, that one of the temporary folder of 1 not occupied a 17 GB space.  and when I did not care and continued using it,  it occupied the entire C drive and I could not locate space consuming folder by so many tools for cleaning up C drive
