How to setup Social icons Widgets in wordpress widget (official wordpress content)
Does your Social Icons Widget look different than the one on this page? You might still be using the older widget. Now’s a great time to switch over to the new widget, which provides more icon options and greater flexibility for sizing and ordering your icons.
The Social Icons Widget displays small graphics linked to your social media accounts, in any widget area of your theme. After adding links to your social profiles, icons are automatically displayed on your site, letting your visitors connect with you through your preferred networks.
Setting Up The Widget
- Head to My Sites → Customize and open the Widgets panel.
- Select the widget area to which you’d like to add the Social Icons Widget, and click Add a Widget.
- Find the Social Icons Widget and click Add.
- Add a Title to display above your social icons, or keep the default title, “Follow Us.”
- Choose a size for your social icons: Small, Medium, or Large.
- Add a full link (URL) to your first social network profile. For example, https://www.facebook.com/WordPresscom/
- If you’d like to add more social icons, click Add an icon and add your next social network profile URL.
- When you’ve finished adding your social profiles, click Save and Publish.
Ordering the Icons
You can change the order of your icons anytime by dragging and dropping them into your desired sequence. Your new order will be reflected live in the Customizer’s preview pane.
